The scope of works includes the full replacement of the existing Welsh slate roof covering at Exeter College Library. The existing slates have been carefully stripped and sorted, with suitable reclaimed slates retained and reused on the front (principal) elevation to maintain the historic appearance. New Welsh slates have been installed on the rear elevation to ensure long-term durability while maintaining visual harmony.
Leadwork has been comprehensively renewed as part of the works. This includes:
- Replacement of all box gutter outlets in new code 6/7 lead.
- New lead coverings to the dormer cheeks, formed and fitted to heritage specifications.
- Installation of new lead valleys to replace existing worn details.
- Complete renewal of the lead roof covering to the annexe building, in accordance with traditional detailing and best practice.
All works have been carried out in compliance with heritage conservation standards and with full consideration for the historic character of the building.
